It could be said that the Bailey Family has an unusual love for the State of Michigan. The beauty and abundance that surrounds every corner of Michigan is cause for daily thanksgiving to be fortunate enough to live in "God's Country."
So strong is the love of Michigan, that upon retiring, Bob and Pat Bailey settled in Northern Michigan and opened the first Michigan Peddler in Leland on the beautiful Leelanau Peninsula. Bob and Pat found it a great challenge to seek and find artisans, craftsmen, potters, wineries, food producers, photographers, and authors to fill their new store with the bounty of Michigan. The Leland store was welcomed by natives and visitors alike with great enthusiasm.
Things went so well in Leland that in 1991, Bob and Pat's youngest son, Brian, and his new wife, Jeri-Lynn, decided to join forces and open a second location on Mackinac Island. There after, in 1995 big changes occurred. The flagship store in Leland moved across Leelanau County to Suttons Bay.
Today, after 20 years of retail excellence, Bob and Pat have since retired, again! Brian and Jeri-Lynn continue to carry on the tradition of promoting the passion of Michigan-Made goods! Michigan Peddler continues to be the source that brings together the BEST of Michigan today and in the years to come!
